Hey there! Have you heard about the Richmond Virginia Temple? It’s a true gem located at 10915 Staples Mill Rd in Glen Allen, Virginia, and it’s the 177th dedicated temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints!

The excitement really kicked off on April 1, 2018, when Prophet Russell M. Nelson announced its construction during the 188th annual General Conference. Fast forward to April 11, 2020, when they held the groundbreaking ceremony led by Randall K. Bennett—what a moment that must have been!

After years of anticipation, the Temple got to explore the temple during an open house from March 25 to April 15, 2023. And then, on May 7, 2023, it was officially dedicated by Prophet Dallin H. Oaks. What an incredible experience for everyone involved!

The temple is not just beautiful on the outside, with its elegant Moleanos limestone from Portugal, but it also has a touching height of 164 feet that’s topped with a sparkling gold-leafed Angel Moroni. It really stands out in the area!

Inside, there’s so much to admire. You’ll find four instruction rooms, three sealing rooms, and a baptistry, all designed with a cozy royal navy-blue carpet featuring octagonal patterns—definitely giving off a warm, inviting feel. The floors are a mix of carpet and stunning diamond parquet marble stone, perfect for exploring!

One of the highlights has to be the stained glass windows. They’re just gorgeous, with a mix of blue, gold, and red glass that reflects an early American vibe. Plus, they incorporate a lovely diamond motif that connects beautifully with members designs and the rich history of colonial Virginia.

Walking around the temple, you’ll notice thoughtfully chosen plants that enhance the colonial atmosphere, making the space feel tranquil and welcoming.

As the very first temple built in Virginia, the Richmond Virginia Temple isn’t just a place for Temple work—it’s a cherished Temple that brings people together. If you ever get the chance to visit, it’s a peaceful place to reflect and experience something truly special!
