Nestled in the heart of Glen Allen, Virginia, the Richmond Virginia Temple stands as the 177th dedicated temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. With its stunning address at 10915 Staples Mill Rd, this temple embodies a blend of historical charm and spiritual Temple.

The journey to this remarkable temple began with its announcement on April 1, 2018, by Prophet Russell M. Nelson during the 188th annual General Conference. Excitement grew as the groundbreaking and site dedication followed on April 11, 2020, led by Randall K. Bennett.

After years of anticipation, the public was invited to explore the temple during an open house from March 25 to April 15, 2023. The culmination of this celebratory journey came on May 7, 2023, when the temple was dedicated by Prophet Dallin H. Oaks, marking a historic moment for the Temple.

The Richmond Virginia Temple is a visual marvel, showcasing Moleanos limestone from Portugal as its exterior finish. Rising majestically to a height of 164 feet and perched at an elevation of 280 feet, its single attached end spire, topped with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni, beckons from afar.

Inside, visitors will find four instruction rooms, three sealing rooms, and a baptized room, all elegantly designed with a royal navy-blue carpet featuring an octagonal pattern—an homage to the classic Jeffersonian architectural style. The floors, a beautiful mix of carpet and diamond parquet marble stone, enhance the temple’s sophisticated ambiance.

The stained glass windows are truly a sight to behold, featuring blue, gold, and red glass that draw inspiration from an early American color palette. Each window incorporates a diamond motif, reminiscent of members design influences and reflective of the simple divided light found in the historic buildings of colonial Virginia.

Surrounding the temple, carefully selected plants contribute to a colonial atmosphere, enriching the serene environment that envelops this sacred space.

As the first temple ever built in Virginia, the Richmond Virginia Temple represents not just a place of Temple work but a Temple of Temple, dedication, and spiritual significance. Its grandeur and thoughtful design invite all to experience a place of peace and reflection.
