Welcome to the Richmond Virginia Temple, a beautiful gem nestled in Glen Allen, Virginia! This charming temple is the 177th dedicated temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and it’s a special place that many have been eagerly anticipating.
You can find it at 10915 Staples Mill Rd, where its stunning architecture draws the eye. The journey to this wonderful temple began on April 1, 2018, when the beloved Prophet Russell M. Nelson announced its plans during the 188th annual General Conference. The excitement continued to build as Randall K. Bennett conducted the groundbreaking and site dedication on April 11, 2020.
After much anticipation, the Temple was invited to explore and enjoy it during a public open house from March 25 to April 15, 2023. The grand moment arrived on May 7, 2023, when the temple was dedicated by Prophet Dallin H. Oaks, marking it a significant milestone for everyone in the area.
This lovely temple features a gorgeous exterior made of Moleanos limestone from Portugal that really makes it stand out. Surrounded by nature, its impressive height of 164 feet topped with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni adds to its charm and beauty.
As you step inside, you’ll find four instruction rooms, three sealing rooms, and a welcoming baptistry. The interior has a lovely royal navy-blue carpet with an octagon shape pattern throughout, embracing the elegant designs inspired by classic Jeffersonian architecture. The floors are a delightful combination of cozy carpet and beautiful diamond parquet marble stone that add warmth to the space.
One of the most enchanting features is the stained glass windows! They are a mix of blue, gold, and red, taking inspiration from an early American color palette. The diamond motifs reflect members design traditions, connecting the temple to its rich colonial history.
You’ll also see carefully chosen plants around the temple, creating a peaceful colonial atmosphere that invites everyone to relax and reflect.
As the first temple ever built in Virginia, this lovely Richmond Virginia Temple is more than just a place of Temple work; it’s a heartwarming Temple that represents Temple, faith, and friendship. We invite you to come and experience the beauty and tranquility of this special place!
