Salt Lake Temple Unveils Stunning Facade

After nearly six years, the Salt Lake Temple’s striking exterior is now fully revealed, following the removal of all scaffolding. This momentous occasion marks the end of a lengthy period of construction that began in December 2019.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently announced the completion of the scaffolding removal process, allowing the temple’s iconic facade to be seen in its entirety for the first time in years. Alongside this significant milestone, the south tower crane, which has been stationed at the site for over five years, has also been dismantled.

In conjunction with these updates, the Church introduced a new art piece at the entrance of Temple Square, showcasing scenes from the life of Jesus Christ. This artwork was meticulously installed piece by piece over several days, adding a beautiful spiritual element to the surrounding area.

Originally anticipated to take four years, the renovation has faced various delays. As of now, the completion date is set for late 2026, with an anticipated opening in April 2027. Prior to that, between April 5 and October 1, 2027, there will be special tours of the temple for the public. However, after October, it will be open only to church members who hold active temple recommends.

Additionally, the Church plans to enhance the experience in the meantime with Easter displays and the upcoming semi-annual general conference, held in both April and October.

The Salt Lake Temple continues to stand as a recognizable presence in Salt Lake City, inspiring appreciation and devotion among many. As the renovations conclude and the temple prepares for its next chapter, excitement and anticipation are building.
