Discovering the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple
Nestled on a scenic bluff overlooking Utah Lake and the Wasatch Front, the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple serves as a remarkable addition to the landscape of Utah. This impressive building, which occupies 22.71 acres, is the 179th dedicated Temple in operation and represents the eighteenth temple constructed in the state of Utah, with its address at 987 South Ensign Drive, Saratoga Springs, Utah 84045.
The announcement for the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple was made by Prophet Thomas S. Monson on April 2, 2017, during General Conference. Following this, the groundbreaking and site dedication took place on October 19, 2018, led by Craig C. Christensen. He emphasized the transformative impact the Temple would have, saying, “I realized…how this particular temple will bless many individuals and families, including your children, your marriages, your families, and, especially, many of your ancestors.”
After nearly five years of anticipation, the public open house ran from April 15, 2023, to July 8, 2023, spanning an impressive 84 days. The Temple was officially dedicated by Apostle Henry B. Eyring on August 13, 2023.
Architectural Features
The Saratoga Springs Utah Temple boasts a striking exterior finish of beige precast concrete panels, each measuring eight inches thick. The building’s structure features steel, concrete shear walls, and concrete floor slabs. A decorative band wraps around the exterior, showcasing a design inspired by local mountain landscapes and wetlands, adorned with snowy egrets, which are representative of Saratoga Springs City.
An eye-catching element of the architecture is the single attached central spire topped with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue. The Temple incorporates various rooms, including four instructional rooms, six sealing rooms, and one baptistry, while the total square footage measures 87,836 square feet. Standing tall at 199 feet and 9 inches, it sits at an elevation of 4,652 feet.
The interior design draws from nature, highlighting features that reference the Arts and Crafts movement. Art glass stained windows evoke the colors and forms of Utah Lake and the Wasatch Mountains, filled with purples, blues, greens, and golds. Throughout the Temple, stylized flowers represent local wildflowers like iris, daisy, and chrysanthemum, while stylized lines evoke the nearby water sources.
Unique Interior Elements
Upon entering, visitors will notice a mix of flooring materials, including carpet, porcelain tile, ceramic tile, glass tile, and stone. The probationary patterns are carefully carved on-site, ensuring they reflect the natural beauty of the surroundings. Bathrooms feature “rug-like” patterns created from various tiles, enhancing the overall design.
The baptistry font is a focal point, with its interior decorated in TREND Mosaic Brillante glass tiles, incorporating various shades of blues, whites, creams, and purples. Decorative elements in the baptistry—comprising antique brass, sapele African mahogany, and glass—reflect careful craftsmanship, including intricate engravings drawn from the decorative paint design.
The light fixtures throughout the Temple further enhance the atmosphere; the brides’ room features a Schonbek light fixture that adds an element of elegance. The millwork and doors predominantly use Sapele African Mahogany, with some featuring integrated art glass, all designed in an Art Deco style.

The Saratoga Springs Utah Temple is adorned with artwork from talented artists, including “Evening Flight” by Adair Payne, “Evening, Distant Mountain” by Brad Aldridge, “Timpanogos Sunrise and Jordan River Sunrise” by Ken Stockton, and the notable “Timpanogos from Across the Lake” by Bruce Brainard. These pieces contribute to the Temple’s atmosphere of beauty and reflection, integrating the artistic talents of local creators.
