Lindon Utah Temple: A New Addition to Utah’s Sacred Landscape

The Lindon Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is making strides toward its dedication, set for May 3, 2026. Nestled near 800 East and Center Street in Lindon, this impressive three-story construction encompasses around 87,005 square feet and will be the second to feature two baptistries, following the Syracuse Utah Temple.

Key Dates to Remember

A monthlong open house is scheduled from March 12 to April 11, 2026, providing the opportunity to explore the beautifully designed interior, with the exception of Sundays and Saturday, April 4, due to general conference activities. A special media day will take place on March 9, 2026, where invited guests can tour the temple on March 10-11.

Historical Background

The journey toward the Lindon temple began on October 4, 2020, when the late President Russell M. Nelson announced its location as part of a series of new temple announcements during the general conference. Ground was officially broken on April 23, 2022, with Elder Kevin W. Pearson presiding over the ceremony.

Currently, Utah is home to 32 houses of the Lord, whether operational, under construction, announced, or undergoing renovations. The Lindon temple represents the 25th addition to Utah’s rich tapestry of sacred spaces.

The Broader Context

Utah’s Latter-day Saint community has a deep historical connection to the region, tracing back to the arrival of pioneers in 1847. Today, the state is home to over 2.2 million Church members spread across nearly 5,400 congregations. The growing number of temples reflects a vibrant faith community, eager to expand places of devotion and service.

Exciting Developments Ahead

Alongside the Lindon temple, other projects are in various stages of development in Utah. These include the Smithfield, Ephraim, and Heber Valley temples, all currently under construction. Additionally, plans are underway for four more temples in West Jordan, Lehi, Price, and Spanish Fork, enhancing the spiritual landscape of the Beehive State even further.

As the dedication date approaches, anticipation builds for the Lindon Utah Temple, promising to enrich the lives of those who come to find peace and inspiration within its sacred walls.
