The announcement of the Gilbert Arizona Temple came on April 26, 2008, marking the beginning of an exciting journey for those involved in its establishment. The groundbreaking and site dedication took place on November 13, 2010, led by Elder Claudio R.M. Costa, signifying the commencement of construction on what would become a stunning architectural feat.
The Gilbert Arizona Temple was opened to the public for a special open house from January 18 through February 15, 2014. This period attracted an impressive attendance of 407,020 individuals, showcasing the level of interest and anticipation surrounding its completion.
On March 2, 2014, the Temple was dedicated by the Prophet Thomas S. Monson, with the dedicatory prayer delivered by Henry B. Eyring. This event marked a new chapter in its history, providing a space for countless individuals seeking a deeper understanding of their faith.
Set on 15.38 acres, the Gilbert Arizona Temple spans an impressive 85,326 square feet and rises to a height of 195 feet, beautifully complementing the Arizona landscape. Its exterior is finished in precast concrete panels, giving it a modern yet enduring appearance.
One of the most notable architectural features is the single attached central spire, crowned with a Gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue added on May 15, 2012. This striking feature distinguishes the Temple, adding to its beauty and significance.
Inside, the Temple accommodates three instruction rooms, seven sealing rooms, and one baptistry, providing essential spaces for various ceremonies and services in line with faith practices. With its elevation of 1,269 feet, the facility offers not only spiritual opportunities but also stunning views of the surrounding area.
