A Historic Milestone Coming to Springfield
Mark your calendars! On Saturday, June 6, 2026, Springfield, Missouri will witness a momentous occasion as Elder Aroldo B. Cavalcante presides over the groundbreaking ceremony for the Springfield Missouri Temple—an event that promises to transform the spiritual landscape of the region.
A Rich Legacy Continues
Missouri holds a special place in Church history. From the early days when Latter-day Saints worked tirelessly to establish Zion, to today, when over 84,000 members across approximately 180 congregations call the state home, Missouri has been central to the faith’s story. The Springfield Missouri Temple will become the third sacred house of the Lord in the state, joining the Kansas City Missouri and St. Louis Missouri Temples.
President Nelson’s Vision
When President Nelson announced this temple in April 2023, he offered a powerful reminder of its deeper purpose:
“Whatever questions or problems you have, the answer is always found in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Learn more about His Atonement, His love, His mercy, His doctrine, and His restored gospel of healing and progression. Turn to Him! Follow Him!”
What Makes a Temple Special
Unlike Sunday meetinghouses, temples are sacred sanctuaries where spiritual transformation happens. Here, members can:
- Seek peace and divine guidance
- Deepen their understanding of life’s purpose
- Make sacred covenants to follow Christ and serve others
- Strengthen family bonds for eternity
The Springfield Missouri Temple represents hope, heritage, and a bright spiritual future for the entire region.
