Introducing the Wichita Kansas Temple, a remarkable addition to our Temple located at 2550 W Harborlight St, Wichita, Kansas 67204. Announced by Prophet Russell M. Nelson on April 3, 2022, this Temple is set to become a significant spiritual Temple in the area.
The groundbreaking and site dedication, led by Steven Bangerter on September 7, 2024, has paved the way for the beautiful Wichita Kansas Temple to grace our city. Situated on 6.42 acres, the Temple occupies a prime location in Wichita, the most populous city in Kansas, underlining its importance.
Architecturally, the Wichita Kansas Temple features a striking single attached central tower—an innovative design choice that does not include a gold-leafed Angel Moroni. Inside, it boasts 9,950 square feet dedicated to Temple work, including one instruction room, one sealing room, and one baptistry, making it a versatile space for our Temple.
Standing at an impressive elevation of 1,327 feet, the Wichita Kansas Temple offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The public got its first look at the beautifully crafted design on July 22, 2024. While the open house dates have yet to be announced, anticipation is high, and we’re confident it will draw many visitors.
Wichita has a rich history with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dating back to 1831 when missionaries first engaged with the Shawnee and Delaware tribes here. The first branch was organized in 1882, establishing Wichita as a significant location within our faith.
