Announced by Prophet Russell M. Nelson at the 189th General Conference on October 5, 2019, the Taylorsville Utah Temple was groundbreaking on October 31, 2020, led by Apostle Gerrit W. Gong. During this event, he expressed sentiments of unity arising from diverse heritages, emphasizing a common goal anchored in faith and fellowship.
The building sits on a historic site previously home to a meetinghouse and recreational field. It encompasses 7.5 acres and features a three-story design that stands at a height of 219.9 feet. The exterior is finished with structural steel and stone cladding, giving it a solid yet graceful appearance.
Architectural Features
The architectural style of the Taylorsville Utah Temple is rooted in pioneer-era Gothic, drawing inspiration from local tabernacles. Notably, its single attached octagonal tower does not showcase a gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue. The artistic elements, including the exterior art glass, celebrate Utah’s rich botanical heritage, incorporating stylized representations of local wildflowers.
Interiors of Distinction
Inside, the Temple spans 73,492 square feet and includes four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and one baptistry. The flooring integrates a variety of materials, such as carpets, stone, and tile, beautifully contributing to its refined ambiance. The general areas utilize soft gold and lavender broadloom carpets, while specific rooms have beautiful wall-to-wall wool rugs and decorative aluminum railings around the baptismal font.

The color palette ranges from yellows and greens to purples, with red accent jewels adorning the art glass.
