The Mesa Arizona Temple is a beautiful and significant landmark as the 7th dedicated temple in operation! Located at 101 S. LeSueur in Mesa, Arizona, it holds a rich history, having been announced way back on October 9, 1919. How exciting is that?
This stunning temple had a public open house from October 16th to November 20th, 2021, hosted by the beloved Prophet Dallin H. Oaks. Built on a spacious 20 acres, the temple features a striking exterior made of reinforced concrete with 130 tons of steel and is elegantly finished with a glazed eggshell look.
Architecture enthusiasts will appreciate its unique design, which includes a flat roof adorned with sculpted friezes that beautifully illustrate Isaiah’s promise for the last days. Inside, the temple is quite spacious, measuring 75,000 square feet, and includes four instruction rooms, six sealing rooms, and a baptistry.
Standing at 53 feet tall and built at an elevation of 1,240 feet, the Mesa Arizona Temple has a special place in the hearts of many as it was the first temple constructed in Arizona. Originally called the Arizona Temple, it has evolved over the years, transitioning from live acting presentations to more modern displays. Isn’t it wonderful how temples can adapt while still preserving their sacred purpose?
