Temple News Presents the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple
On April 4, 2021, President Russell M. Nelson shared the plans for the construction of the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple. This announcement was met with enthusiasm by the 154,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints residing in Oregon. As Oregon has over 300 congregations, the introduction of this Temple is poised to enhance the spiritual resources available in the area.
Groundbreaking Ceremony
The groundbreaking ceremony marked an important milestone. Elder Valeri V. Cordón presided over the event on October 29, 2022, setting the stage for the construction that was to follow. Located at 3701 Corporate Way, the Temple is built on a 10.5-acre site, featuring stunning architectural elements including a single attached central spire.
Architectural Features
The Willamette Valley Oregon Temple spans a significant 30,000 square feet and stands 120 feet tall at an elevation of 429 feet. Inside, it is designed to accommodate two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, all contributing to its multipurpose functionality. Floral decorations throughout the Temple include Dogwood and Laurel flowers, adding a touch of natural beauty to the interior.
Upcoming Events
Preparations for the public open house are scheduled to begin on April 23, 2026, with events planned until May 9, excluding Sundays. A media day will take place on April 20, 2026, where invited guests will have the opportunity to tour the Temple on April 21 and 22. The dedication, an exciting culmination of this journey, will be led by Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with a rebroadcast at 2:00 p.m.
