Exploring the Boise Idaho Temple: An Architectural Marvel

On March 31, 1982, the vision for the Boise Idaho Temple was officially announced, marking the beginning of a significant chapter in the local area. The ceremonial groundbreaking took place on December 18, 1982, led by Apostle Mark E. Petersen, with approximately 5,000 attendees coming together to witness this unforgettable moment.

After years of anticipation, the Temple opened its doors to the public for the last time from October 13 to November 10, 2012. During this open house, an impressive 128,716 visitors explored its halls, reflecting a strong interest and connection within the local population.

Covering a generous 4.83 acres, the Boise Idaho Temple captivates visitors with its stunning exterior, featuring white granite imported from China. Towering at 112 feet, it showcases six detached spires crowned with a gold-leafed statue of the angel Moroni, which was installed on February 16, 2012, highlighting its intricate design.

Internally, the space encompasses 35,868 square feet, including four instructional rooms, four sealing rooms, and a dedicated baptistry. Its thoughtful design allows for a variety of activities that cater to diverse needs.

The site sits at an elevation of 2,754 feet, providing a picturesque backdrop of nature, accentuated by a beautiful water feature and large trees that offer a serene atmosphere. Complementing this is a shared parking area with a nearby meeting house, accommodating visitors and members alike.

Interestingly, the Boise Idaho Temple shares architectural similarities with both the Dallas Texas Temple and the Chicago Illinois Temple. While all three possess comparable designs, the distinct landscapes and grounds of each location offer unique experiences for visitors.

As the 27th dedicated temple in operation, the Boise Idaho Temple continues to be a significant point of interest in Boise, Idaho, attracting both locals and tourists. Its rich history, impressive features, and welcoming environment contribute to its place in the fabric of Idaho’s heritage.
