Temples Orem Utah Temple

The Orem Utah Temple, operating as the 188th dedicated temple within the Latter-day Saint movement, is located at 1451 S 1100 W, Orem, Utah, 84058. The temple was announced on October 5, 2019, amid a rapidly growing community that had 26 stakes at the time. The groundbreaking and site dedication took place on September 5, 2020, presided over by Elder Craig C. Christensen.

A public open house for the temple was held from October 27 to December 16, 2023, giving the community a chance to tour the finished structure. The temple sits on 15.39 acres and features an exterior finish made from pedras salgradas granite sourced from Portugal. Its architectural design includes a single attached central spire, although it notably does not feature a gold-leafed Angel Moroni.

Inside, the temple includes four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and one baptistry, encompassing a total area of 71,998 square feet, with a height of 218 feet. The temple is positioned at an elevation of 4,539 feet above sea level. It is the nineteenth temple built in the state of Utah and the sixth in Utah County.

The land on which the temple is built was purchased in 2003 from the Williamson family, who emigrated from Norway in 1870. Members of this family were present at the groundbreaking ceremony. The temple’s rendering was released to the public on June 24, 2020, although the ceremonial groundbreaking took place with limited attendance due to COVID-19 precautions.

Elder Christensen emphasized the temple’s significance, stating it will serve as “an added refuge of strength in an increasingly uncertain world.”

The temple’s design incorporates striking features such as bronze-colored doors, taupe-hued windows adorned with art glass showcasing cherry blossoms and local wetlands, and meticulously designed landscaping that includes Norwegian sunset maples, snow queen hydrangeas, and various other flora. The interior features luxurious flooring made from Crema Marfil marble sourced from Turkey, with fabricating occurring in California. The marble’s intricate patterns include diamond shapes, circle accents, and a cherry leaf border, adding to the temple’s serene and beautiful environment.
