In the heart of Provo, a temple once stood,
A whimsical structure, like a cupcake of wood.
Beloved by many, a landmark so grand,
Now transformed by planning, by a careful hand.
No longer the spaceship that danced in the light,
A new form emerges, in the soft Utah night. The
Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple.
With spires reaching skyward, a foundation of hope,
As workers craft beauty, the city will cope.
Windows glint softly on the south and the east,
While sheathing wraps gently, embracing the beast.
Concrete pathways now lead to a future refined,
Yet whispers of mourning linger in the mind.
A petition once sparked, over a thousand strong,
To save the old temple where memories throng.
Yet change, they remind us, is life’s timeless art,
Bringing growth even when it seems to break hearts.
So here’s to the new, with its promise unfurled,
A beacon for many, a new chapter in this world.
For what once was cherished will in time fade away,
Like the stars in the dawn—new beginnings betray.
As echoes of laughter resound in the space,
This temple will flourish, new stories embrace.
While some mourn the old, others will find their way,
To a sanctuary’s light where their hearts long to stay.
