A Brief History

The journey to the creation of this remarkable building began with an announcement on April 26, 2008. Following this announcement, the groundbreaking and site dedication took place on November 13, 2010, officiated by Elder Claudio R.M. Costa. The public was invited to experience the beautiful interior during an open house from January 18 through February 15, 2014, attracting an impressive 407,020 attendees.

The official dedication was held on March 2, 2014, led by Prophet Thomas S. Monson, with the reading conducted by Henry B. Eyring.

Architecture and Design

Covering an expansive 15.38 acres, the Gilbert Arizona Temple features a striking exterior composed of precast concrete panels. Its architectural design is highlighted by a single central spire topped with a stunning gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue, which was installed on May 15, 2012. Standing at an impressive height of 195 feet, this Temple is a prominent sight against the Arizona skyline.

The interior of the Temple is thoughtfully designed. It encompasses 85,326 square feet, providing a serene environment for the many activities that occur within. The Temple includes three instruction rooms, seven sealing rooms, and one baptistry, each crafted with care and attention to detail.
