Ephraim Utah Temple: A New Chapter in Sanpete County

The culmination of anticipation has arrived with the recent completion of the Ephraim Utah Temple, located at 400 East 200 North in Ephraim, Utah. This new addition to the spiritual landscape was officially announced on May 1, 2021. Situated on a sprawling 9.16 acres, the Temple spans an impressive 39,000 square feet and sits at an elevation of 5,567 feet, providing stunning views of the surrounding area.

The groundbreaking ceremony on August 27, 2022, was a memorable event, led by Prophet Russell M. Nelson. In a heartfelt address, he shared his personal ties to the area, noting, “My dear mother was born in Ephraim, not far from this very Temple site. My father was born in Manti. Three of my four grandparents were born here in Ephraim.” This connection adds a layer of significance, as he expressed gratitude for ancestors who laid the groundwork of faith that nurtures the spiritual vitality of this community.

Architecturally, the Ephraim Utah Temple features two elegant end towers and uniquely opts not to include a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue, setting it apart from many of its counterparts. Inside, it offers four instruction rooms, three sealing rooms, and a single baptistry, ensuring ample space for various sacred activities. Each of the four endowment rooms can comfortably seat 30 individuals, creating an intimate atmosphere for those participating.

The rendering, unveiled to the public on March 4, 2022, generated excitement and curiosity about this new chapter for Sanpete County. With this Temple, Ephraim joins the ranks as the 27th in Utah and proudly stands as the second in Sanpete County, complementing the existing Manti Utah Temple.
