In the heart of Provo, where faith took its flight,
Stood a temple cherished, a beacon of light.
Once called “spaceship,” “cupcake,” in whispers and dreams,
Woven into lives, a tapestry of themes.
Yet, as seasons must change, so too must our view,
The old temple closed, making way for the new.
With the Provo Utah, The Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple
in sight, A foundation now rises, reaching toward the light.
The spire stands tall, reclaiming its place,
Windows are framed, a testament of grace.
Concrete poured for paths where faithful will tread,
A new chapter unfolds, though some souls hang their head.
For the quirky design that brought joy to the eyes,
Now yields to a form that in uniform lies.
A bittersweet transition, this transformation may bring,
Yet in every ending, the promise of spring.
When the church announced, with stewardship’s hand,
The need for reconstruction was met with a stand.
Voices united, over a thousand in number,
Called for preservation, for memories to slumber.
Yet, life teaches us that change is profound,
In the rhythm of progress, new hopes can be found.
Though cherished the past, and the memories dear,
The future holds promise, as love conquers fear.
So as we stand witness to this solemn rebirth,
Let our hearts open wide to its sacred worth.
For this temple, once new, will hold stories anew,
And in its embrace, a place for us too.
