The journey of the Gilbert Arizona Temple began on April 26, 2008, when it was announced with much anticipation. The groundwork was laid on November 13, 2010, during a ceremonial groundbreaking and site dedication led by Elder Claudio R.M. Costa.
After years of dedicated effort, the Temple opened its doors to the public during an open house from January 18 to February 15, 2014, attracting an impressive 407,020 attendees. This overwhelming response showcased the community’s eagerness to engage with this beautiful addition to the landscape.
Finally, on March 2, 2014, the Temple was dedicated by the Prophet Thomas S. Monson, with Elder Henry B. Eyring reading the dedicatory prayer. This occasion marked a celebration of faith and commitment.
