A History of Transformation
The journey of this remarkable building dates back to its origins as a tabernacle, which was tragically lost to an accidental fire in 2010. Previously, it had hosted significant events, including General Conference sessions in October 1886 and April 1897. Following the fire, an extensive renovation transformed the site into its current form, culminating in a groundbreaking ceremony on May 12, 2012, led by Apostle Jeffrey R. Holland.
Architectural Elegance
The Provo City Center Temple showcases a striking exterior made of red brick, crowned with a soaring central spire and four additional corner spires. At the pinnacle sits a magnificent gold-leafed Angel Moroni, which was placed atop the structure on March 31, 2014. The Temple spans an impressive 85,084 square feet, reaching a height of 150 feet, and is set at an elevation of 4,547 feet.
Inside, the Temple features four levels—two above ground and two below. The lower levels house the baptistry, dressing rooms, offices, and a bridal room, while the upper levels include the endowment rooms, sealing rooms, lobby spaces, and additional offices.

The Temple is equipped with a basement parking garage accommodating 245 vehicles, alongside 50 parking spots on the main level. A quaint Victorian pavilion across the street connects to the Temple’s basement, creating a seamless transition between the two spaces.

Before its dedication, the Provo City Center Temple held an open house from January 15 to March 5, 2016, drawing more than 800,000 attendees who toured the beautifully renovated interior. The dedication itself took place on March 20, 2016, presided over by Prophet Dallin H. Oaks, who expressed gratitude for the many positive contributions to the Provo area, including local educational institutions.
