The story of the Provo City Center Temple begins with a historic announcement made by Prophet Thomas S. Monson during the Semiannual General Conference on October 1, 2011. Unfortunately, prior to its current role, the site experienced a significant challenge. In 2010, an accidental fire led to the destruction of the historic tabernacle that once graced the area. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on May 12, 2012, presided over by Apostle Jeffrey R. Holland. Inside, the design includes three instruction rooms, five sealing rooms, and a baptistry. The lower levels house essential facilities such as dressing rooms, offices, and a bridal room, while the upper levels contain the endowment rooms, additional sealing rooms, a chapel, and further offices.

Situated in Provo’s business district, the Temple is conveniently located for those in the area, offering a basement parking garage with 245 spots and an additional 50 parking spots available on the main level.
Adjacent to the Temple, a Victorian pavilion with a basement connects seamlessly to the Temple’s lower level, further enhancing accessibility and community integration. This thoughtful design fosters a sense of cohesion within the surroundings.

The Provo City Center Temple was formally dedicated by Prophet Dallin H. Oaks on March 20, 2016.
