The journey of the Boston Massachusetts Temple began on September 30, 1995, when the announcement was made to build this significant space. Fast forward to June 13, 1997, when Apostle Richard G. Scott conducted the groundbreaking and site dedication, marking the official start of this cherished endeavor.
Architectural Beauty
Occupying 8 acres, this beautiful facility features exquisite Olympia white granite on its exterior, giving it a stately appearance. Standing tall at 139 feet, the temple can be seen from the Concord Turnpike, set against the backdrop of a wooded granite hillside. An elegant single attached end spire is complemented by a striking gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue, which was added later on September 21, 2011, enhancing the temple’s beauty and significance.
Inside, the design includes four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and a single baptistry, all thoughtfully laid out within its impressive 69,900 square feet. The facility is constructed at an elevation of 331 feet, offering breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere.
Open House and Dedication
The temple opened its doors to the public from August 29 to September 23, 2000, allowing thousands to explore its sacred spaces before the official dedication. This momentous occasion took place on October 1, 2000, officiated by the Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley, who played a pivotal role in the vision and development of the temple.
