Exciting News: The Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple
Get ready, Provo! A monumental addition is coming to our community – the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple! This stunning new edifice promises to be a beacon of faith and inspiration for the countless members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and residents alike.
A Vision Becomes Reality
Announced on October 3, 2021, by the beloved Prophet Russell M. Nelson, this temple is set to become the sixth of its kind in the state of Utah. With a grand size of 163,000 square feet, it will provide ample space for worship, community gatherings, and spiritual growth. Construction officially kicked off on February 24, 2024, marking the beginning of this magnificent journey. The temple is expected to be completed by late 2027—a project we can’t wait to see fully realized!
A Stunning Design
The Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple boasts a unique architectural delight, featuring a single attached central spire that reaches an impressive height of 265 feet 6 inches (81 meters). Unlike its predecessor, the new temple will not feature a gold-leafed Angel Moroni; the original statue is currently in storage. Moreover, the temple will be elegantly dressed in beautiful granite, making it a stunning addition to the Provo skyline.
What’s particularly exciting is the fact that this new temple is being built on a 17-acre site, a slight increase from the previous temple’s 15 acres, thanks to the removal of a road from the old temple’s front.
Location and Accessibility
When it comes to access, the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will have its own parking facilities, with a meeting house located across the street. Addressed at 2200 Temple Hill Dr, Provo, UT 84604, this temple will not only be a spiritual center but also a community hub for the 500 congregations throughout Utah, contributing to a vibrant and interconnected community.
A Growing Community
With the current membership tally at about 16.8 million members worldwide, including a substantial number residing in Utah, this temple stands as a testament to the growing faith and resilience of our community. The increasing number of congregations reflects a thriving environment of fellowship, support, and spiritual upliftment.
Elevating the Spirit
Sitting at an elevation of approximately 4,876 feet (1,486 meters) above sea level, the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will not only offer beautiful views of the surrounding landscape but will also serve as a spiritual refuge for many. As the temple takes shape, it serves as a reminder of our shared values and beliefs, inviting all to connect, learn, and grow together.
