Exciting Developments at the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple!
Provo, Utah, is abuzz with excitement over the upcoming Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple! Announced by the Prophet Russell M. Nelson on October 3, 2021, this stunning temple is poised to become a cornerstone of faith and beauty in the area.
A New Beginning on a Grand Scale
One of the most thrilling aspects of the Rock Canyon Temple is its generous 17-acre footprint, significantly larger than the previous temple site, which was only 15 acres. This expansion provides more room for worship, community, and connection. Located at 2200 Temple Hill Dr, Provo, UT 84604, the new temple is set to be a remarkable addition to the picturesque Provo landscape.
Modern Marvel
The temple will encompass a whopping 163,000 square feet, making it one of the largest temples in the area! Towering at 265 feet 6 inches, with a sleek granite exterior, the structure is designed to inspire awe and uplift the spirit. Intriguingly, it will feature a single attached central spire but won’t have the traditional gold-leafed Angel Moroni, which is currently in storage.
A Sight to Behold
The architectural rendering, released on November 24, 2021, gave the public a tantalizing glimpse of what is to come, showcasing a temple that beautifully marries tradition with modern design elements. Its expected completion in late 2027 means that the wait will be worth it!
A Community Focus
While this magnificent new spiritual haven will not share a parking lot with any meeting houses, a convenient parking area across the street ensures that the temple remains accessible for all. Currently, there are approximately 500 congregations in the state of Utah, serving the 16.8 million members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Rock Canyon Temple, as the 6th Temple in Utah, is an exciting addition to this rich tapestry of faith and community.
Construction Stepped Into Action
Construction began on February 24, 2024, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Provo. As we watch this monumental project evolve, it’s impossible not to imagine the countless lives it will touch and transform.

Perched at an impressive elevation of 4,876 feet (or 1,486 meters) above sea level, the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple is destined to stand out both spiritually and visually. As it rises against the backdrop of the stunning Utah mountains, it will remind everyone of the beauty of faith and community.
