Victoria British Columbia Temple Rendering
The Victoria British Columbia Temple will soon add to the spiritual landscape of Canada. Announced by Prophet Russell M. Nelson during the 194th General Conference on April 7, 2024, this temple is set to be the eleventh across the country, and the second located in British Columbia.
Essential Details Around the Temple
The Victoria British Columbia Temple will be constructed on a 4.47-acre site located on Mantle Heights Road in Langford, British Columbia. An impressive 11,400 square feet in size, this single-story Temple will feature an exterior finished in granite.
Architectural Notes
The design includes a single attached end spire, but it will not have a Gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue. Moreover, this Temple will likely accommodate one or two instruction rooms, three sealing rooms, and one baptistry, providing essential spaces for various activities.
Groundbreaking Ceremony
The groundbreaking and site dedication for the Victoria British Columbia Temple are scheduled for August 22, 2026, an event that will be presided over by Elder James E. Evanson of the Canada Area Presidency. Prior to this, zoning bylaws for the temple site were approved by the Langford City Council on September 15, 2025.
The Need for a New Temple
At the time of the announcement, British Columbia was home to approximately 31,000 members of the Church, spread across 73 congregations. This reflects a growing community, with Canada exceeding 211,000 members overall. Until the announcement, the nearest house of the Lord was the Vancouver British Columbia Temple, located approximately 60 miles away.
Future Outlook
The release of the official exterior rendering on June 22, 2026, will be a noteworthy moment, showcasing the aesthetic design that awaits the region. This development is anticipated not just for its architectural beauty but also for its role in enriching the spiritual lives of the surrounding population.
The Victoria British Columbia Temple promises to be a significant addition to the Canadian landscape, uniting individuals and families in their quest for understanding and connection through this latest endeavor.
