Visit the Fort Worth Texas Temple by LDS Temple News
Hold onto your hard hats, because Fort Worth just kicked off a fantastic new chapter with the groundbreaking ceremony for the Fort Worth Texas Temple on Saturday, October 28, 2023! It was a lively gathering led by the inspiring Elder Jose L. Alonso, a General Authority Seventy and First Counselor in the North America Southwest Area Presidency. He infused the day with joy and gratitude during his dedicatory prayer, where he beautifully articulated, “Our hearts are full of appreciation for the treasured gift of Thy Beloved Son, Jesus Christ.” Can you feel the warmth and hope in those words?
The temple’s design has already captured people’s hearts since the public took its first look at the charming exterior rendering on October 31, 2022. Imagine a stunning single-story temple sprawling across 9.37 acres, located just north of SW Hulen Street and Greenridge Drive in Burleson. We’re talking about approximately 30,000 square feet of sacred space where the community can come together to worship and celebrate.
This whole adventure began when President Russell M. Nelson made the exciting announcement during the October 2021 General Conference, marking this as the sixth temple in Texas! That’s right—over 360,000 Latter-day Saints in Texas are eagerly awaiting this beautiful addition to their community. Fort Worth, positioned northwest of bustling Dallas, is about to shine even brighter with this remarkable house of worship!
And here’s a fun fact: at an elevation of 768 feet, the Fort Worth Texas Temple promises to offer stunning vistas of the surrounding landscape. Compare this to the nearby Fort Collins Colorado Temple, which features two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry—who knows what special features will await us at the new Fort Worth Temple!
With all this buzz and excitement, the countdown to the temple’s opening has officially begun! It’s not just a building; it’s a vibrant gathering place that will bring people together and ignite a sense of community. So, let’s get ready to welcome this beautiful new landmark into our lives!
