Get ready to dive into the inspiring story of the Helena Montana Temple! This magnificent addition to Montana’s spiritual landscape was officially announced on April 4, 2021, during the 191st Annual General Conference, delivered by the visionary President Russell M. Nelson. At the time, over 50,000 Latter-day Saints and around 125 congregations were eagerly anticipating this new sacred space!

Fast forward to June 26, 2021, when the ground officially broke at the temple site, a momentous occasion presided over by Elder Vern P. Stanfill of the Seventy. As he stood amidst the stunning Montana mountains, he reflected on the countless faithful souls who had long awaited this day. His heartfelt words celebrated their legacy of hope and dedication to the Savior, perfectly setting the tone for what was to come!

Nestled on a 4.8-acre site at 1260 Otter Road, the Helena Montana Temple boasts an impressive 10,000 square feet of divine serenity. It’s built right next to a brand new stake center, symbolizing community and faith intertwined. Elder Stanfill expressed a beautiful vision: “As a house of the Lord rises from the ground, may all who gaze upon it see a great blessing and learn of its significance.” What a powerful sentiment!

April 20, 2021, was another exciting day, as the specific location was revealed—1230 Otter Road, where the stake center once stood. After a razing and rebuilding process, the excitement continued to build. On May 15, 2023, the open house kicked off with a media day, followed by exclusive tours for invited guests. The grand public tours ran from May 18 to June 3, 2023, allowing everyone to experience the temple’s beauty firsthand.

The big day of dedication arrived on June 18, 2023, with Elder Gary E. Stevenson from the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles presiding over two inspiring sessions. Fun fact: this temple was the first ever built using modular construction methods, making it a remarkable milestone in architectural innovation!

As you approach the Helena Montana Temple, you’re greeted by its stunning exterior, featuring elegant deco stone cladding and a striking single attached central tower. Inside, you’ll find a thoughtfully designed space with one instruction room, one sealing room, and a baptistry—all beautifully crafted within 9,794 square feet of sacredness. The temple’s height reaches an impressive 96 feet 9 inches, standing proudly at an elevation of 3,768 feet amidst the breathtaking Montana backdrop.

The Helena Montana Temple isn’t just a building; it’s a beacon of faith for the community, reflecting hope, legacy, and the unwavering spirit of those who cherish it. Isn’t that a wonderful journey of faith and community?
