Groundbreaking took place on May 8, 2010, led by Elder Ronald A. Rasband. Set on 8.05 acres, the temple showcases a stunning exterior of precast concrete, crowned with twin towers and a breathtaking gold-leafed statue of the angel Moroni. Inside, the temple boasts an impressive 32,000 square feet of sacred space, featuring instruction rooms, sealing rooms, and a baptistry that invite worshippers to deepen their spiritual journey.
On May 6, 2012, President Thomas S. Monson presided over the temple’s dedication, making it a deeply emotional occasion held in a region rich with the church’s early history. His words honored the sacrifices made by early Saints and underscored the spirit that filled the air that day—a moment forever etched in the hearts of attendees.
The beautiful grounds, adorned with vibrant flowers and trees, welcome visitors to explore and reflect. Before the formal dedication, nearly 91,000 people took the opportunity to tour the temple, captivated by its beauty and significance.
While the Kansas City Missouri Temple is the second in the state, following the St. Louis Missouri Temple, it stands as far more than a mere building.
