In a momentous announcement during the April 2022 General Conference, President Russell M. Nelson unveiled plans for a beautiful new landmark in eastern Tennessee—the Knoxville Tennessee Temple. Nestled along the scenic banks of the Tennessee River in Farragut, this temple is set to become a spiritual haven for the local community.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place on January 27, 2024, led by Elder Shayne M. Bowen, First Counselor in the North America Southeast Area Presidency. This significant event marked the beginning of a new chapter for the temple, which will occupy a 4.99-acre site at 13001 Kingston Pike, designed to serve the growing congregation in Tennessee.

The architectural vision for the Knoxville Tennessee Temple showcases a stunning single-story building with an attached central tower, encompassing approximately 30,836 square feet. The design not only reflects the elegance typical of Latter-day Saint temples but also symbolizes the faith and dedication of the surrounding community. Located at an elevation of 989 feet, it promises to be a breathtaking addition to the local landscape.

On December 19, 2022, the official rendering was unveiled, providing a sneak peek into what the completed temple will look like. This new house of worship is anticipated to serve the approximately 53,000 Latter-day Saints organized into over 100 congregations across Tennessee, providing a space for worship, community gatherings, and spiritual reflection.

As construction progresses, excitement continues to build within the community, as the Knoxville Tennessee Temple stands as a beacon of faith, hope, and unity for all who will walk through its doors.
