The announcement of the Moses Lake Washington Temple came on April 7, 2019. The groundbreaking and site dedication occurred shortly after, on October 10, 2020, led by Brother Stapleton. After years of anticipation, the Temple was dedicated on September 17, 2023, by Apostle Quentin L. Cook. A public open house took place from August 4 to August 19, 2023, where reports indicated that 290,000 individuals toured the facility during this time.

Design and Architecture

On April 7, 2020, the official rendering of the Moses Lake Washington Temple was unveiled. The design features a single-story building covering approximately 20,000 square feet, distinguished by a prominent central spire. Additional plans include a meetinghouse of about 17,000 square feet adjacent to the Temple.

Exterior and Interior Features

The Temple is constructed using Branco Cristal granite quarried in Portugal for the exterior finish. Insulated concrete forms create the walls, topped with a steel roof and spire, contributing to the overall height of 117 feet. Set on 17 acres of land, the Temple sits at an elevation of 1,157 feet.

The architectural design includes two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and one baptistry, with a total floor area of 28,933 square feet. A distinctive blossom motif and prairie-style border pattern reflect the heritage of Native Americans who inhabited the Moses Lake area long before settlement.

The flooring throughout the interior comprises marble, carpet, and porcelain tile, beautifully complemented by art glass that echoes the exterior motifs. The font railings are crafted from bronze and glass, while doors made of cherry and painted maple feature decorative hardware of bronze and brass. The celestial room showcases an intricately painted ceiling adorned with coffers and a dome, enhancing the interior’s elegance.

Conclusion

The Moses Lake Washington Temple is more than just a site; it represents dedication and craftsmanship in architecture. The thoughtful integration of cultural motifs and high-quality materials speaks volumes about the vision behind its creation, making it a proud addition to the region.
