The announcement of its construction was made on September 3, 1998, and the groundbreaking took place on February 6, 1999, led by Loren C. Dunn. Shortly after, the Raleigh North Carolina Temple opened its doors to the public for a widely attended open house from December 3rd through December 11th, 1999. It was dedicated on December 18th and 19th, 1999, by none other than the Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley.
The Raleigh North Carolina Templehad another successful public open house from September 21st to September 28th, 2019, followed by a significant rededication on October 13, 2019, by Apostle M. Russell Ballard.
Covering 3.17 acres, the Raleigh North Carolina Temple features a striking exterior finished in beige limestone, highlighted by a single attached spire and a stunning gold leafed Angel Moroni statue. Inside, visitors can explore two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a well-appointed baptistry, all housed within an impressive 12,864 square feet. It reaches a height of 83 feet 9 inches and sits at an elevation of 447 feet.
