The Star Valley Wyoming Temple is a remarkable addition to the landscape of Afton, Wyoming. As the 154th Temple in operation, it holds a special place in the hearts of many.

Located at 885 S Washington St, Afton, Wyoming 83110, the Temple was announced on October 1, 2011, during a General Conference by the Prophet Thomas S. Monson. This announcement marked the beginning of a journey that culminated in its dedication.

Groundbreaking Ceremony

The groundbreaking and site dedication took place on April 25, 2015, led by Craig C. Christensen. This event was a significant milestone, paving the way for the construction that followed.

Open House and Dedication

The public open house ran from September 23rd to October 8th, 2016, and attracted a remarkable 78,000 individuals who toured the building. On October 30, 2016, the Temple was dedicated by Apostle David A. Bednar. In his dedicatory prayer, he shared heartfelt sentiments expressing love and devotion, emphasizing a deep commitment to eternal family bonds.

Spanning 18,609 square feet, the Temple is built on 43.6 acres and stands 123 feet tall, sitting at an elevation of 6,218 feet.

Exterior and Interior Design

The exterior features precast concrete panels, while the iconic single attached end spire is topped with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue, which was placed on the Temple on April 25, 2016. Inside, it houses one instruction room, one sealing room, and a single baptistry, reflecting a thoughtful design tailored to the needs of those who use it.

Stained Glass Artwork

A unique feature is the stained glass in the foyer, which depicts Jesus Christ and originated from a Presbyterian Church in New York City, offering a touch of history and artistry.
