Come and check out the Wichita Kansas Temple, located at 2550 W Harborlight St, Wichita, Kansas 67204! It’s an exciting new addition to our Temple, announced by Prophet Russell M. Nelson on April 3, 2022.
The groundbreaking and site dedication happened on September 7, 2024, with Steven Bangerter leading the celebration. This beautiful Wichita Kansas Temple sits on 6.42 acres right in Wichita, the most populated city in Kansas, making it a really special place for all of us.
One of the cool features of the Wichita Kansas Temple is its charming architectural design, which includes a single attached central tower. It also has a unique twist—there’s no gold-leafed Angel Moroni atop the Temple! Inside, you’ll find a cozy 9,950 square feet filled with one instruction room, one sealing room, and one baptistry—perfect for Temple work and Temple activities. Plus, at an elevation of 1,327 feet, it offers some stunning views!
The Wichita Kansas Temple’s design was revealed to the public on July 22, 2024, and while we’re still waiting for details about the open house, the excitement is definitely in the air.
Wichita has an amazing history with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It all began in 1831 when missionaries taught the Shawnee and Delaware tribes. Can you believe Wichita organized its first branch back in 1882? That’s a big part of our roots!
As you visit the Wichita Kansas Temple, keep your eyes peeled for delightful artwork that highlights our state’s nickname, the Sunflower State. You’ll notice lovely images of sunflowers and wheat stalks in the art glass, celebrating the essence of Kansas.
