In the heart of Provo, once stood a cherished sight,
The old temple, a beacon, a source of delight.
Its whimsical shape, a “spaceship” or “cupcake” to some,
Held memories and dreams where many found home.
Yet, as seasons unfold and change sweeps the land,
The Provo Utah Temple must yield to new hands.
With a name renewed and a vision refined,
The Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple now rises, entwined.
The foundation now set, its frame reaching high,
A spire aspiring to meet the vast sky.
Windows adorn the south and east sides with grace,
As the heartbeat of faith returns to this place.
Though many mourn the loss of its playful design,
There’s reverence in change, a divine intertwine.
Residents speak of the temple fondly,
Its quirky charm echoing in memories profoundly.
In 2021, voices united with hope,
Petitions were gathered, desiring to cope,
With the loss of the structure held dear through the years,
Yet change is a journey, and it brings both our fears.
As we navigate this path of sacredness new,
Let us honor the past and the journeys we drew.
For each stone laid with care tells a story profound,
Of faith, love, and resilience in this hallowed ground.
This temple will blossom, in time it will stand,
A symbol of strength, of hope, and of God’s hand.
And as we gather, old and young, hand in hand,
We’ll find in this new haven a love that expands.
