The Ephraim Utah Temple: A New Sacred Space Coming to Central Utah
The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced an exciting addition to the religious landscape of central Utah: the Ephraim Utah Temple. Located at 400 East 200 North in Ephraim, Utah 84627, this new Temple will serve the faithful throughout the region and mark another significant milestone in the Church’s ongoing expansion.
An Announcement That Sparked Hope and Anticipation
On May 1, 2021, the Church revealed plans for the Ephraim Utah Temple, igniting enthusiasm across central Utah and surrounding communities. Just over a year later, on August 27, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson presided over the groundbreaking and site dedication ceremony—a momentous occasion that officially launched construction on this important religious edifice. The energy surrounding this event reflected the deep spiritual significance this Temple holds for members in the region.
Impressive Architecture and Design
The Ephraim Utah Temple will encompass an impressive 39,000 square feet of carefully designed space. Nestled at an elevation of 5,567 feet in the picturesque Sanpete Valley, the Temple’s architecture will beautifully complement the natural landscape that surrounds it.
The architectural rendering, released on March 4, 2022, unveiled an elegant design featuring:
- Four instruction rooms, each accommodating 30 people for spiritual instruction
- Three sealing rooms dedicated to eternal marriage ceremonies
- One baptistry for sacred ordinances and baptismal work
Every element of the Temple’s design has been thoughtfully planned to facilitate meaningful spiritual experiences for members who will participate in sacred ordinances within its walls.
