Introducing the Wichita Kansas Temple, proudly located at 2550 W Harborlight St, Wichita, Kansas 67204! This significant addition to our Temple was announced by Prophet Russell M. Nelson on April 3, 2022, marking a pivotal moment for the area.
The groundbreaking and site dedication took place on September 7, 2024, under the leadership of Steven Bangerter. Spanning a generous 6.42 acres, this Wichita Kansas Temple is situated in Wichita, the most populous city in Kansas, enhancing its prominence as a spiritual hub.
Architecturally, the Wichita Kansas Temple features a striking single attached central tower, distinguishing it from others with its decision to forgo a gold-leafed Angel Moroni. Inside, the space encompasses 9,950 square feet, including an instruction room, a sealing room, and a baptistry—perfect for Temple work. Perched at an elevation of 1,327 feet, it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
The Wichita Kansas Temple’s design was unveiled to the public on July 22, 2024, and while we await news on the open house, the anticipation is truly electric.
Wichita has a rich history with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, beginning in 1831 when missionaries spread their message to the Shawnee and Delaware tribes. Wichita organized its first branch in 1882.
