Oregon is home to approximately 154,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with over 300 congregations established throughout the state. The roots of this faith can be traced back to 1887 when settlers first arrived in the area. The Willamette Valley Oregon Temple will serve as the third house of the Lord in the state, joining the existing temples in Medford and Portland.
Location and Specifications
Located at 3701 Corporate Way in Springfield, Oregon, the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple covers 10.5 acres. The design features a single attached central spire, standing at 120 feet tall and positioned at an elevation of 429 feet. With a total area of 30,000 square feet, the Temple includes two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry.
Groundbreaking and Floral Features
The groundbreaking ceremony took place on October 29, 2022, presided over by Elder Valeri V. Cordón. An interesting aspect of the Temple’s design is the floral themes featuring Dogwood and Laurel flowers, enhancing its aesthetic appeal.
Upcoming Events Leading to Dedication
A media day is scheduled for April 20, 2026, allowing invited guests the chance to tour the Temple a day earlier. The public open house will run from April 23 to May 9, 2026, excluding Sundays, providing a unique opportunity for people to experience the Temple’s interior before its dedication. The dedication will occur on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with a rebroadcast planned for 2:00 p.m.
