Willamette Valley Oregon Temple dedication, open house dates announced

President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple on April 4, 2021. This announcement marked a significant moment for the approximately 154,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who reside in Oregon, where there are over 300 congregations. The area’s rich history began in 1887 when settlers first arrived, creating a foundation for the Latter-day Saint community that thrives today.

Location and Features

Located at 3701 Corporate Way in Springfield, Oregon, the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple spans an impressive 30,000 square feet and is built on 10.5 acres. Standing at 120 feet tall and elevated at 429 feet, it features a single attached central spire. Inside, the Temple includes two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, providing essential facilities for various activities and engagements.

Groundbreaking and Opening Schedule

Elder Valeri V. Cordón presided over the groundbreaking ceremony on October 29, 2022, setting the stage for this monumental addition. Following years of anticipation, a media day will take place on April 20, 2026. Invited guests will have the opportunity to tour the Temple on April 21 and 22. The public open house is scheduled from April 23 through May 9, 2026, excluding Sundays.

Dedication

Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will dedicate the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple on June 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with a rebroadcast at 2:00 p.m. This dedication will mark the Temple as the third house of the Lord in Oregon, joining the existing Temples in Medford and Portland.
